U4GM PoE2 Guide: Loot Filter Setup for Better Drops
Path of Exile 2 feels a lot less wild once you stop staring at every drop on the floor. A decent filter does the boring work for you, whether you are chasing currency, checking rares, or sorting early PoE2 Items during the campaign.
Loot filters are the first real upgrade
The current PoE 2 filter scene is already busy, in a good way. FilterBlade supports PoE 2 with NeverSink presets, from Soft through Regular, Semi-Strict, Strict, Very Strict, Uber Strict, and Uber+1 Strict. That matters because a day-one character and a juiced mapping character do not want the same floor. Followed filters from the official ladder are the easiest route for most players. Click Follow, open Options, go to Gameplay, and pick the filter in-game. No folder digging. No weird file name mistakes.
Strictness should match where you are
People mess this up all the time. They grab an endgame filter, then wonder why useful flasks, bases, links, or small crafting bits vanish.
1. Campaign filters should show leveling gear.
2. Early mapping filters should cut obvious trash.
3. Endgame filters should protect your screen space.
FilterBlade or poe2filter
FilterBlade is the heavier workshop. You can change sounds, beams, colors, modules, rare item rules, currency tiers, and a lot more. It also uses economy-aware tiering, with softcore and hardcore values updating every few hours. poe2filter.com goes the other way. It keeps the default PoE look closer, then uses beams and minimap icons for the stuff you really care about. Honestly, that cleaner style feels better if you hate rainbow labels.
Here is the quick player-level split, not a spreadsheet lecture.
| Tool. | Best For. | Player Note. |
|---|---|---|
| Official ladder. | Fast setup. | Great for console and cloud users. |
| FilterBlade. | Deep tuning. | Best if you like control. |
| poe2filter.com. | Clean visuals. | Good if clutter annoys you. |
Small details that actually matter
Currency rules are where filters earn their keep. Divine Orbs, Exalted Orbs, Chaos Orbs, and other trade-relevant drops need loud treatment. Lower currency can still matter while leveling, especially when you are crafting your own gear instead of buying fixes. Gold is different, since PoE 2 picks it up when you walk over it. Some players hide it to reduce clutter, though I would still test that yourself before copying someone else's setup blind.
Build tools are useful, but not magic
Build guides are thinner than filter guides right now. One current example is the HCSSF Spark Oracle guide on Mobalytics, built around Spark, Oracle, Pounce, Block, and Armour. The key takeaway is pretty practical: don't just chase damage. Shields matter. Armour matters. Resistances matter. The guide even warns Hardcore players not to swap into Focus casually, because losing Block can feel fine right up until it doesn't.
That's the bit newer players miss. A build planner won't save bad pickup habits or lazy gearing.
Eldritch Battery needs careful reading
Eldritch Battery in PoE 2 converts Energy Shield to Mana and doubles Mana Costs. Sounds simple, yeah, but the conversion order can trip people. Older player testing suggests passive Energy Shield increases may not boost the converted amount the way people expect. So if you build around it, look at base Energy Shield, local gear rolls, Mana scaling, and the cost penalty. Don't assume your character sheet tells the full story at a glance.
Keep testing your setup
The best PoE 2 setup is not one tool forever. Start with a public filter, tighten it as drops get noisy, then use Ctrl+C item checks or filter refresh tools when something looks wrong. If you are comparing upgrades, pricing drops, or planning what to keep, a cleaner filter plus sensible trading habits around Path of Exile2 Items will save more time than any flashy preset alone, especially once maps start dumping half the armoury on your screen.
