U4GM Monopoly go Where Sarasota Board Takes Shape

The old Monopoly board is about to feel a little less distant for Sarasota County families. Top Trumps USA, with Hasbro's official blessing, is building a Sarasota County edition of Monopoly set for release in spring 2027. That means local players may soon swap Atlantic City streets for beaches, parks, arts venues, and businesses they actually know. It's the kind of board game news that gets people talking at coffee shops and school pickup lines, right alongside digital collectibles like Monopoly Go Stickers, because Monopoly still has a way of pulling every generation into the same conversation.

The community gets a real say

This isn't being handled like some bland souvenir with palm trees slapped on the box. The makers are asking residents, business owners, and longtime visitors to nominate the places they think deserve a square. That could mean a family-run restaurant, a bookstore, a marina, a performing arts venue, or one of those local spots people always recommend before checking a guidebook. You can already imagine the arguments. Someone will insist their favorite breakfast place belongs on the board. Someone else will say only the big landmarks should count. Honestly, that's part of the fun.

The big-name spaces will be hard to win

Every Monopoly fan knows the dark blue properties carry bragging rights. In Sarasota County, those spaces could spark a lively fight. Siesta Key Beach is an obvious contender, and not just because tourists love it. Locals still talk about that sand like it's a civic treasure. Myakka River State Park brings a different kind of pull, with airboats, trails, gators, and that wide-open Florida feeling. Then there's St. Armands Circle, the Ringling Museum, downtown Sarasota, Venice Avenue, and plenty of waterfront favorites. Picking only a handful won't be easy, and it probably shouldn't be.

More than just property squares

The best part may be what happens beyond the board spaces. Top Trumps has said the Chance and Community Chest cards will be reworked with local flavor, which opens the door to all sorts of Sarasota jokes and little truths. Maybe you get stuck in season traffic. Maybe you win a prize at an arts festival. Maybe a beach day costs more than expected because parking was a mess. Even the money could get a Sarasota twist, though we'll have to wait and see how far the design team takes it.

Why this version feels different

People around here have seen local "-Opoly" style games before, but this one carries the official Monopoly name, and that changes the stakes. It should look, feel, and play like the version many of us grew up with, just filtered through Sarasota County life. Collectors will want it. Tourists may grab it as a keepsake. Families will pull it out when relatives visit. And while mobile players may still buy Monopoly Go Stickers for their digital albums, there's something hard to beat about sitting at a table, grabbing the little metal token, and trying to buy the beach before your cousin does.
